CCFD
responded on 03/19/2007 at 0538 AM for smoke in the house occupants had
evacuated. Units responding were Eng 404, Eng 402, Medic 480,
Utility 435, & Chief 450. While enroute to the scene Campbell
County dispatched advised CCFD that occupants had escaped thru a window
and HHPD onscene advised smoke was present outside the building. Upon
arrival, found 2 story, single family house, smoke showing from first
floor. Mutual Aid was called in from Ft. Thomas FD and Southgate FD to
the scene with Alexandria FD moved to our station for stand-by. Crews
made entry to first floor through front door into living room. No fire
was found on first floor. Crew advised to back out of building to
attempt fire attack through basement door. Made entry to basement and
extinguished existing fire. Second attack line into first floor to
attack fire now showing in bedroom on first floor. Gas was found leaking
from exterior wall (elbow on A & D corner) gas was shut off at meter in
the residence and gas company ordered to shut off at street. Sweep of
residence reveled no more visible fire and command declared under
control. Overhaul of upper floors, with investigation taking place.
Several articles from the home was salvaged and given back to the
residents. American Red Cross assisted the residents with housing
until the house was repaired. No one was injured at the fire.
Estimated loss of $60,000. |
